Graham Hicks is the founder and Honorary Chair for the Adopt-A-Teen program. A columnist with the Edmonton Sun, Graham started Adopt-A-Teen in 1999 upon realizing no Christmas gift program existed in Edmonton for under-privileged youth once past the age of 12.
In the first year several hundred teens received gifts. Since then the program has grown. Annually 6,000 to 7,500 teens are provided a gift at Christmastime.
Today all teens aged 13 to 17 years from families registered with the Christmas Bureau of Edmonton are eligible to receive the Walmart gift card.
The Adopt-A-Teen program is a program of the Christmas Bureau of Edmonton and governed by the policies and processes of the Christmas Bureau of Edmonton.
