Graham Hicks is the founder and Fundraising Chair for the Adopt-A-Teen program. A columnist with the Edmonton Sun, Graham started Adopt-A-Teen in 1999 upon realizing no Christmas gift program existed in Edmonton for under-privileged youth once past the age of 12.
In the first year several hundred teens received gifts. Since then the program has grown to take care of 8,500 under-privileged teens in Edmonton in 2015.
Today all teens aged 13 to 17 years from families registered with the Christmas Bureau of Edmonton or Salvation Army are eligible to receive the Walmart gift card.
